Privacy Policy

BenQ Corporation, and our affiliates (“BenQ”, “we”, “us”, “our”) are responsible for data processing in connection with BenQ consumer and professional electronics products and services worldwide. This Privacy Policy explains the types of information that we may collect and hold, how that information is used and with whom the data is shared. It also sets out how you can contact us if you have any queries or concerns about this information.

Account administered by your organisation

Many of our products are intended for use by organisations through BenQ Identity and Access Management (hereinafter referred to as “IAM” or “Service”). Where the Service are made available to you through your organisation (e.g. your employer) your organisation is the administrator of the Service and is responsible for the accounts and/or Service sites over which it has control. If this is the case, your use of the Service is also subject to that organisation’s policies. We are not responsible for the privacy or security practices of an administrator’s organisation, which may be different than this policy.

Administrators are able to:

  • require you to reset your account password;
  • restrict, suspend or terminate your access to the Services;
  • access information in and about your account;
  • access or retain information stored as part of your account

In some cases, administrators can also:

  • restrict, suspend or terminate your account access;
  • change your information, including profile information;
  • restrict your ability to edit, restrict, modify or delete information

Even if the Service are not currently administered to you by an organisation, or if you use an email address provided by an organisation (such as your work email address) to access the Service, then the owner of the domain associated with your email address (e.g. your employer) may assert administrative control over your account and use of the Service at a later date. You will be notified if this happens.

If you do not want an administrator to be able to assert control over your account or use of the Service, our Service allow you to deactivate your account with the Service, or use your personal email address to register for or access the Service.

Please contact your organisation or refer to your administrator’s organisational policies for more information.

Information that we collect

BenQ may collect information about you in several different ways. You can choose not to provide us with certain types of information, but doing so may affect the functionality of some services.

Information that you provide us directly

Some of our services may ask you to provide us with information relating to you. For example, we may ask you to submit basic information about you to set up the account or profile, such as your name, and email address. And when you purchase, register, send for repair or return one of our products or services, we will ask you to provide necessary information such as your contact details, delivery date, place of purchase and payment information. In addition, some of our services enable you to communicate with our customer service representatives. Those communications will be stored in and transmitted through our systems.

Information we may collect when you use products and services from BenQ

We will collect information about your use of our products or services through software on your device and other means. It could be your device information, such as your hardware model, device hardware information, IMEI number and other unique device identifiers, phone number, serial number, sales code, access recording, current software version, MCC (Mobile Country Code), MNC (Mobile Network Code), MAC address, IP address, cookies, pixels, subscription information, operating system versions, and settings of the device you use to access the services.

Information we may collect from other sources

We may receive information about you from publicly and commercially available sources, which we may combine with other information we receive from or about you. We also may receive information about you from third party social networking services when you choose to connect with those services.

Other services you link to your account

We receive information about you when you or your administrator link a third-party service with our Service. For example, if you create an account or log into the Service using your Google credentials, we receive your name and email address as permitted by your Google profile settings in order to authenticate you. You or your administrator may also integrate our Service with other services you use, such as to allow you to access, disclose and edit certain content from a third-party through our Service. For example, you may authorise our Service to access and display from a third-party document-sharing service within the Service interface. The information we receive when you link or integrate our Service with a third-party service depends on the settings, permissions and privacy policy controlled by that third-party service. You should always check the privacy settings and notices in these third-party services to understand what data may be disclosed to us or shared with our Service.

If any Google APIs is integrated with our Services, the use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

We can also understand more about our customers so that we can provide customised content and provide personalised services based on your past activities on our services. In addition, the information helps us to understand the way you use our services so that we can improve your experience and develop new products and services. We may also use third party service providers to process information on our behalf for the purposes outlined above. Our affiliates and service providers operate only in accordance with our instructions, in line with this policy, and are subject to appropriate confidentiality and security obligations.

Managed accounts and administrators

If you register or access the Service using an email address with a domain that is owned by your employer or organisation or associate that email address with your existing account, and such organisation wishes to establish an account or site, certain information about you including your name, profile picture, contact info, content and past use of your account may become accessible to that organisation’s administrator and other Service users sharing the same domain. If you are an administrator for a particular site or group of users within the Service, we may disclose your contact information to current or past Service users, for the purpose of facilitating Service-related requests.

International transfers of your information

Your use of our services will involve the transfer, storage, and processing of your personal information outside of your country of residence consistent with this policy. Please note that the data protection and other laws of other jurisdiction to which your information may be transferred might not have the same level of data protection laws as those in the country where you are located. We will take appropriate measures, in compliance with applicable law, to ensure that your personal information remains protected. Such measures include the use of Standard Contractual Clauses to safeguard the transfer of data outside of the EU.

Legal justification for data processing

BenQ’s legal basis to process personal data includes processing that is necessary for the performance of the contract between you and BenQ or necessary for BenQ’s legitimate interests, or based on your consent which may subsequently be withdrawn by contacting us as specified in the “Contact Us” section of this Privacy Policy. Where we base processing on your consent, you have the right to withdraw consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.

Access to your information and your rights

You have the right to request details about the information we collect about you and to request us to correct inaccuracies in that information, to object to or request the restriction of processing, and to request access to, or the erasure or portability of your information. You can view, correct, modify or delete your information by visiting [My Account]. You can also submit other inquiries, such as obtaining a copy of your information which you have provided to us, by visiting https://www.benq.eu/en-uk/business/support/contact-us.html. If you request deletion of personal information that is necessary for the performance of the contract between you and BenQ, you acknowledge that you may not be able to access or use our services. We may also decline to grant your request where doing so is permitted by the law (such as when you request deletion of an account that is being investigated for security concerns). Other reasons your privacy request may be denied are if it jeopardises the privacy of others, is frivolous or vexatious, or would be extremely impractical.

Data retention

We will not keep your personal data for longer than is reasonably necessary for the purpose it was collected. This means that we process and retain information about you at least the duration for which the information is used to provide you with a service. Despite your request for deletion, BenQ reserves the right to keep the residual personal information, or a relevant part of it, in BenQ’s records and archives for some time, in compliance with applicable law, but BenQ will not use that information for commercial purposes.

Our products and services are open only to individuals who are 13 years of age and older. Except as may be required by law, this website does not knowingly collect, maintain or disclose your personal data if you are under age of 13. BenQ believes that children using the internet require special protection, and we urge parents or guardians to explain internet safety to their children. Parents are urged to spend time online with their children to become familiar with the types of content available on the internet. Control tools are available from online services and software manufacturers to help create a safer environment for children
