BenQ Gaming Projector FAQ

The current firmware version only supports 3D Frame Sequential (PC) and Frame Packing (Blu-ray). Side by side 3D or Top & Bottom 3D is not yet supported but will be released in future firmware updates to support streaming other 3D

The projector is embedded with the Smart Control capabilities. Once installed on your smart phone, you can control the projector with your own mobile device and benefit from its intuitive UI.

Applicable models:TK700STi, TK700, X1300i

Yes. Google Assistant can be used to access apps in areas where its available. The projector comes with a Bluetooth remote control. Make sure the remote control is connected to the projector via Bluetooth, and then hold the mic button on the remote control to start a voice search.

Applicable models:X3000i

The projector supports both “Bluetooth speaker” mode and “Projector” mode. 

When you press the “Bluetooth" button, the projector will stop projecting and switch to Bluetooth speaker mode, which allows you to: 

1. Use it as a Bluetooth speaker. 

2. Connect it to external Bluetooth speakers or headphones (there will be a minor audio lag -- around 300ms -- which is okay for listening to music but may cause minor latency while watching movies). 

NOTE: 

• The Bluetooth function is powered by the QS01 dongle, so please make sure it is installed properly on the projector. 

• Other connections such as HDMI do not support Bluetooth.

The console gaming projector supports ARC and eARC on its HDMI-2 port. Please follow the instructions below to enable the ARC/eARC function on the projector from the OSD menu:

1. Manually enable ARC by configuring the SYSTEM SETUP: Projector Menu > Audio > Audio Output switch to Audio Return+.

2. Change the output format to your preferred format in the SYSTEM SETUP: Projector Menu > Audio > Audio Output Format > RAW+/LPCM setting

You can select one of the gaming modes following:

• FPS (First-Person Shooting) - Enhances your ability to view details so as to reveal enemies hidden in the shadows, while providing surround sound to hear distant footsteps and gunshots and recognize the direction they are coming from.

• RPG (Role-Playing) - Provides CinematicColor and powerful theater-like sound as if in a film or fantasy world.

• SPG (Sports): Provides true colors and live sounding vocals that allow you to enjoy the game as if it was a live broadcast.

Auto Color Calibration can be supported when you switch to any of the following picture modes: Living Room / Game (FPS, RPG, SPG)  / Sports / Cinema / DCI-P3 / (3D) / (HDR10) / (HDR Game) / (HLG) / User.

Definitely. The projector is a good choice for console or casual gaming, but not for first-person shooters that require ultra-low latency. Our projector is specially designed for binge watchers, aiming to provide an authentic home entertainment experience with its excellent 4K image quality and color performance, hyper-realistic HDR PRO technology, and good brightness for brightly-lit settings, such as your living room. Thus,  low latency is not a top priority for this projector, making it not suitable for people who have higher standards with regards to latency. For hardcore gamers in pursuit of ultra-low latency, BenQ’s wide range of products should be able meet your needs. Yes. You can connect the projector to a Switch, PS4/PS5 and Xbox console using an HDMI cable. 

NOTE: 

• Switch Lite does NOT support TV mode. 

• Switch supports TV mode via HDMI but does NOT support it via a USB-C connection.

Yes. The input lag making it suitable for a variety of games. For PVP (player versus player) games or rhythm games, enjoy the best gaming experience in 100"+ big screen.

Applicable models: X3000i

Since image processing is required for the keystone function, input lag will be slightly longer* but not affecting the smoothness in games when the keystone is enabled.

*Latency will hardly be noticeable with keystone function enabled, as lag time merely increase no more than 1 frame (4ms~16ms). 

Applicable models:TK700STi, TK700, X1300i, X3000i

The projector will automatically detect HDR10/HLG and display compatible signals from sources connected to the HDMI-1 or HDMI-2 (HDMI 2.0b/HDCP2.2) ports. Furthermore, files from the USB-A 3.0 port (viewed on the Media Reader) also supports HDR10.

NOTE: To automatically detect HDR content, please make sure your 4K player is sending a compatible 4K HDR signal to the projector.

1. Compatible resolutions: 4K x 2K (3840 x 2016 in pixels) at 24/25/30/50/60 (Hz).

2. Compatible HDR signals: 

• 4K/60p (60 Hz) 4:4:4 supports up to 8bits

• 4K/60p (60 Hz) 4:2:2 supports up to 12bits

• 4K/60p (60 Hz) 4:2:0 supports up to 12bits

• 4K/24p (24 Hz) 4:4:4 supports up to 12bits

• 4K/24p (24 Hz) 4:2:2 supports up to 12bits

• 4K/24p (24 Hz) 4:2:0 supports up to 12bits

Applicable models:TK700STi, TK700

To project a screen size of 100 inches, TK700STi would require a minimum distance of 6.5 ft (1.99m); HT2150ST would require a minimum distance of 5 ft (1.5m); TH671ST would require a minimum distance of 5 ft (1.5m)

To project a screen size of 100", TK700 would require, with max zoom, a minimum distance of 8.1 ft (2.5m); HT2150ST would require a minimum distance of 5 ft (1.5m); TH671ST would require a minimum distance of 5 ft (1.5m)

Yes, there are several ways to watch Netflix on the projector:

1. Download and install the Netflix app from the Aptoide TV Market app preloaded on the projector. Then sign in with your Netflix account and start watching.

2. Use your Windows/Chrome/MacOS laptop to wirelessly cast Netflix onto the projector. Make sure both the projector and laptop are connected to the same wireless network and then use one of the following casting methods:

(1) Airplay for a macOS device

(2) Google Cast via the Google Chrome Browser for a PC or Laptop 

3. Stream the content from any Android mobile device with a USB-C port and DisplayPort capabilities that is connected to the projector using a USB-C Gen3.1 cable.

For the most user-friendly experience, BenQ also provides a smart remote control app that allows your smart device to control Netflix on the projector.

Yes. Just connect your iOS / Android device to the same Wi-Fi as the projector, then go to YouTube app on your device and you will see a casting icon, which you can press to start casting via Airplay / Google Cast.

Applicable models:X3000i

There is no need to replace it during the normal usage lifetime of the projector. Because the projector uses an LED light source instead of a lamp, it can last for about 20,000~30,000 hours so there is no need to change it during the normal usage lifetime of the projector. If you want to change the lamp, please notice that LED replacement is not user-serviceable, please contact the service center to replace it.

In order to create smooth 4K resolution images, True 4K DLP Technology utilizes high speed pixel displacement and the superimposition of pixels to produce the 8.3 million pixels seen by the viewer. An end result of this process is a degree of vibration that may results in a slight or unnoticeable high-frequency noise.
